About Dehradun

It is located 2,200 feet above sea-level and was founded by the legend Guru Dronacharva. It is one of the most developed cities in India.

The Doon Valley is situated between the two most important rivers of India, the Ganga and the Yamuna. The picturesque valley has a moderate climate and offers a number of places of interest to the tourist. The renowned religious town of Rishikesh, the queen of the Mussoorie hills, the famous ‘sulphur springs’ at Sahastradhara - Rajaji National Park and the quiet Chakrata hills all lie in this district.

Some of the prime attractions of Dehradun are:

  • The Tapkeshwar Temple, an ancient place of worship.
  • The Rajaji National Park situated at the edge of the sprawling Dehradun valley. Nestled in a lush valley of the Shivalik Range, the park is an ideal holiday resort with its many picnic spots and excursion sites.
